About

Jax Preyer is a writer living in Brooklyn. She publishes an online newsletter called “Can I Hold Your Baby?” looking primarily at the intersection between women’s issues and internet pop culture.

She graduated from Denison University, where she majored in creative writing with a concentration in narrative journalism. Her capstone creative writing portfolio was a collection of personal essays all about coming of age and falling in love amid the untimely death of her father after her twenty-first birthday.

Her journalism concentration brought her to engage in immersive research at The Main Place Inc., a peer-led mental health and addiction recovery center in downtown Newark, Ohio. This research culminated into a long-form piece highlighting one Newark couple in recovery from methamphetamine as they struggled to regain custody of their son, and a cultural analysis of the foster care system more broadly. She proudly served as the managing editor for Denison’s outlet for satire and community dialogue, and the only publication on campus released daily, The Bullsheet.
